Say goodbye to your camp hosts in Wadi Rum and drive to the city of Aqaba on the Red Sea.
Go for a walk with your Trip Leader to get your bearings in this new city and visit Mamluk Castle. This well-preserved historic site tells the story of Aqaba’s conquerors and rulers throughout hundreds of years, dating back to the 14th century.
In the afternoon, relax on a private beach or choose from other optional activities such as snorkeling, scuba diving, or a boat tour.
Take in one last look across the Gulf of Aqaba, where you can see Israel, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia. Then drive over to Petra, the ancient city founded by the Nabateans over 2,000 years ago.
Begin exploring this ancient city on a walk through the famous Siq, a long narrow geological fault split apart by tectonic forces.
Visit Petra’s magnificent facades like the Treasury or Al Khazna. You may recognize it from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
After breakfast, gear up for another visit into the ancient city of Petra! Begin at Little Petra and hike along sandy plateaus and stone staircases, crossing paths with goat herds and Bedouin campsites.
Arrive at the Monastery, or Ad Dier, an impressive 7-story structure with a doorway over 25 feet tall! Explore the numerous rock-cut halls and inspect the crosses inscribed on the interior back wall during its Christian use in Byzantine times.
Enjoy an afternoon of free time to explore other sites of the Petra Basin. Perhaps return for a night tour through this incredible archeological wonder.
Say goodbye to Petra and begin your journey to Madaba. The first stop will be the Dead Sea, the lowest point on Earth! Spend time relaxing in the water and discover how you can float in this super-salty water.
Arrive at Madaba, the city of Mosaics. Visit Mount Nebo to see where Moses was shown the Promised Land. Afterward, continue exploring the town and many of its archaeological sites.
Gather with your new friends for a final dinner in Jordan as you share your experiences and reflect on your journey.
Wake up and enjoy a stroll around town or visit Saint George’s Church, which is home to the oldest mosaic map of Jerusalem.
