Arrive at Reykjavik-Keflavik International Airport (KEF) and take included transportation to the northernmost capital city in the world.
Meet fellow hikers for breakfast and then warm up the legs with a stroll around Reykjavik.
Depart Reykjavik for your Icelandic basecamp and prepare for your epic adventure through the wilderness over the next five days.
Learn from your Icelandic guides how best to organize your gear and equipment in our welcome meeting.
After a big breakfast, hop in a Super Jeep! Ride past waterfalls, mossy green mountains, and black sand dunes into the highlands where the adventure begins.
On our first day of hiking, cross rivers, and fill your bottles with fresh Icelandic water.
Get a sense of the dramatic Icelandic landscape during our shortest day of hiking. When we arrive at our site, you'll learn how to set up & break down camp, as well as some important Leave-No-Trace policies.
Once you've made camp, come together with your new hiking buddies to prepare your first dinner in nature.
Step out of your tent and straight into the Icelandic wilderness. Fuel up with some coffee and breakfast and you'll experience how everything tastes better in the mountains.
Continue through spectacular, colorful scenery: black sand, white glaciers, green mountains, and orange canyons. Pop over a mountain pass and into the vast valley below. Breathe in the fresh air and connect with nature.
Traverse what feels like multiple planets -- none of them being earth -- on the home stretch toward camp. After setting up, enjoy the reward of a delicious dinner and take an optional hike for more mind-blowing scenery.
Pick up where we left off yesterday and explore what feels like the surface of the moon as we make our way toward Þórsmörk, the Valley of Thor!
Cruise through lava fields toward the looming glacier in the distance. Take the bridge over a gushing river and see the glacial tongue through the canyon.
If that isn't enough for you, wait until we descend into the Icelandic forests, straight out of a fairy tale.
Enjoy a hearty dinner in this stunning valley that you'll call home for two nights.
Today we chill--you've earned it!
Surrounded by glaciers, volcanoes, and the rare Icelandic forest, take advantage of the day to relax and recharge. Take a moment to just be.
There are plenty of short trails around Þórsmörk, so feel free to move your legs and explore the lush green forests of Thor's Valley.
Rest up! Tomorrow is a big day.
Finish strong with the most challenging day of our trek--the Fimmvörðuháls Trail. Climb up and out of the valley between the glaciers Eyjafjallajökull and Myrdalsjökull--two powerful volcanoes
Stop to eat on a mountain that is only 8 years old-- created during an eruption in 2010. Then, follow a trail past more than 20 waterfalls! It's impossible to stop and marvel at them all. Slowly re-enter society as we descend toward Skogafoss, one of Iceland's most iconic waterfalls.
Celebrate your accomplishment back at Base Camp with drink in a hot tub with a view of the glacier you just conquered. Oh, and did someone say shower?!
Depart Iceland's south coast in the morning back to Reykjavik-Keflavik International Airport (KEF).
If you wish to go to the Blue Lagoon, we can drop you off on the way to the airport. We strongly recommend you book your tickets online before hand.

"I have just gotten back from the Iceland Trek and can not recommend this trip enough. It was such an incredible experience that went beyond all expectations. If I could do this trip all over again I really would. A special thank you to Jonno for making sure we all had the best time!" -Marina E.
"I went on the first ever Iceland Trek trip and it was beyond amazing. I met so many wonderful people and our trip leaders were so knowledgeable about the area and fun to be around. It was a very active trip, hiking around 55-60 miles and sleeping in a tent, the perfect experience for an outdoor lover. The views on this trip were endlessly breathtaking and the people made this trip even more enjoyable. We were made to feel part of a big family for the week, everyone looking out for one another and coming together to share this amazing experience. I highly recommend this trip to anyone who loves hiking; it was so much fun and I've created so many unforgettable memories." -Amanda H.
"I just got back from the Iceland Trek and it was above and beyond all of my expectations. I had an incredible time meeting people who love adventuring, laughing and challenging themselves as much as I do. The landscape (and really the trek itself) is indescribable: snow dunes, glaciers, Icelandic forests, mountains, lava fields, canyons, waterfalls and even rainbows if you wish for them. So many times I felt like I was on another planet. I cannot recommend this trip enough (over 5 stars if I could)! I look forward to signing up for another under30 trip soon and staying connected to all of the awesome people I met over the past week." -Madeline V.H.
