Day 1

Morning/Afternoon:

  • Arrive at Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) by 3:00 p.m., where your Trip Leader will greet you.
  • Take private transportation from the airport to your hotel in the heart of Delhi, India. (~45 minutes)
  • After settling into your hotel, meet with your group as your Trip Leader lays out the plan for the exciting week ahead. 

Evening:

  • Spend dinner getting acquainted with your new friends, and return to your hotel to rest up for the upcoming adventures!

Day 2

Morning:

  • Enjoy your first cup of Indian tea while having breakfast at the hotel.
  • Begin your walking tour of Old Delhi with a visit to Chandni Chowk, one of the city's oldest markets. 
  • Next, visit the historic Jama Masjid, considered one of the finest mosques constructed during the Mughal Empire.
  • Learn about the Sikh religion by visiting Sheeshganj Gurudwara. This shrine marks the exact site wherein 1675 Guru Tegh Bahadur, the ninth Sikh Guru, was mercilessly beheaded on orders by the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb when he refused to embrace Islam & fought for the Hindus’ right to practice their faith. 
  • Activate your senses on a walk through Khari Baoli, Asia's largest wholesale spice market, where you can buy a variety of spices, nuts, herbs, and food products like rice and tea.

Afternoon:

  • Lunch is not included, but your Trip Leader will recommend a few places to taste delicious local food. You can also opt to experience a vegetarian lunch at the community kitchen of Sheeshganj Gurudwara, which is free of cost.
  • Head to the city's outskirts to visit Qutub Minar (~45-minute private transfer), which lies at the site of Delhi's oldest fortified city, Lal Kot. Tour the complex of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. (~approximately a 2-hour tour)

Evening:

  • Join your friends for an included dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 3

Morning:

  • Rise early, eat your breakfast, and then it’s time to head to the train station. Your final destination today is Agra, home of the Taj Mahal! (~departure from the hotel is approximately around 6:00 a.m.)
  • You will be traveling in air-conditioned train cars. (~1 hour travel time)
  • Upon arrival, your first stop will be the Agra Fort. Walk through the various courtyards and admire the lovely architecture that once served as the primary residence of the emperors of the Mughal Dynasty. (~tour lasts about 1.5 hours)

Afternoon:

  • Your included lunch will be at Sheroe’s Café, run by female acid attack survivors. 
  • This entrepreneurial café gives survivors a chance to earn a livelihood by themselves and provides them with opportunities to socialize with other women and guests. Join the survivors for some coffee and snacks as they share the story of Sheroe’s Hangout and discuss many of the issues surrounding acid attacks in India.
  • Check into your hotel and have some time to relax and freshen up.
  • You can relax at the accommodation, head out into the town for some optional activities, or simply walk around and explore the area.

Evening:

  • It’s time to visit one of the New 7 Wonders of the World, the Taj Mahal. You will experience this during the sunset hours of the day to avoid the heat.
  • Dinner is not included tonight, but your Trip Leader can provide local recommendations for you to try.

Day 4

Morning:

  • Rise early, grab your boxed breakfast, and then head to the train station. Your destination today is Ranthambore. Departure from the hotel is approximately 5:30 a.m.
  • You will be traveling in air-conditioned, sleeper-style train cars. (~4 hours travel time)

Afternoon:

  • Upon arrival at Ranthambore, you will be transferred to your hotel for check-in.
  • Enjoy an included lunch at the accommodation.
  • Enter Ranthambore National Park and visit Ranthambore Fort, a former hunting ground for the Maharajas of the Jaipur dynasty. Your visit to the fort will be a guided tour to learn about its rich history.

Evening:

  • Return to the hotel for an included dinner and rest for your safari adventure tomorrow.

Day 5

Morning:

  • Expect to depart by 7:00 a.m. for a safari drive through the park.
  • Game drives last approximately 3.5 hours.
  • Return to the accommodation for lunch and relaxation.

Afternoon:

  • Chill out at the accommodation with a swim in the pool or pamper yourself with an optional spa treatment.
  • Depart the accommodation by 3:00 p.m. for an afternoon/evening safari game drive.
  • Return to the accommodation and freshen up before dinner.

Evening:

  • Return to the hotel for an included dinner.
  • You can join an optional astronomy activity or simply relax with your friends on the accommodation's grounds.

Day 6

Morning:

  • Enjoy breakfast at the accommodation and take one last stroll through the gardens.
  • Today is a long drive, approximately 5 hours, with the final destination being Jaipur, the capital of India’s Rajasthan state.

Afternoon:

  • Have lunch at a local restaurant along the way. (lunch not included)
  • Upon arrival in Jaipur, we’ll check into the hotel, and you’ll have time to freshen up after the long journey.
  • Experience Jaipur’s Amber Fort, a fine example of Indo-Islamic architecture and one of Jaipur's most famous attractions.
  • Be sure to reach the highest point for excellent views of the surrounding countryside and town below. (Expect the tour of Amber Fort to be about 2 hours)

Evening:

  • Dinner is not included tonight, but your Trip Leader can provide local recommendations for you to try.
  • For dinner, you can also attend a cooking demonstration at a local home. Ask your Trip Leader for details.
  • This evening you can also watch a Bollywood movie at Raj Mandir Cinema.

Day 7

Morning:

  • Opt for an early morning hot air balloon experience.
  • After breakfast, you will go on a heritage tour of Jaipur via rickshaw!
  • The Pink City Rickshaw company is led by all-women rickshaw pullers. During your visit, you’ll hear great stories about how they started and about their experience. The total duration of the rickshaw experience will be roughly 2.5 hours.
  • Get a glimpse into Rajasthan’s royal past and rich heritage with a stop at Albert Hall, Jaipur’s oldest museum.
  • Your tour will lead you through Chaurah Rasta, one of Jaipur’s most famous market areas.

Afternoon:

  • Have lunch at a local restaurant in Jaipur. (Lunch is not included.)
  • Visit the City Palace Complex, a complex of courtyards, gardens, and buildings located right in the old city. The palace is still home to the last ruling royal family! (The tour lasts ~2 hours.)
  • Later in the afternoon, you can opt to join a Bollywood Dance Class, where a trainer will introduce you to the moves, rhythm, and music of Bollywood dance.

Evening:

  • Gather with your friends for an included dinner in a local restaurant in the heart of Jaipur.
  • After dinner, feel free to explore the nightlife of Jaipur, where you’ll find a mixture of chic bars serving crafted cocktails and traditional cultural performances.

Day 8

Morning:

  • Enjoy breakfast at your hotel and take in the sights of Jaipur one last time.
  • Begin your journey back to Delhi in a private vehicle. (~5 hour drive)

Afternoon:

  • Stop for a non-included lunch along the way. There will also be a few stops to stretch your legs and grab a coffee.
  • Check into your hotel upon arrival to Delhi and have some free time to relax or explore the neighborhood before dinner.
  • Suggested afternoon activities include but are not limited to Humayun's Tomb, Gandhi Smriti, Sunder Nursery, or Lodhi Gardens.

Evening:

  • Your final dinner together in India will be at a local restaurant where you can enjoy some delicious Indian cuisine one last time as a group.

Day 9

Morning:

  • Enjoy the final morning in India with your group before packing up your belongings.
  • Take included group transportation to Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL), where you will arrive by 12:00 p.m. (~45-minute drive)
  • Say goodbye to your new group of friends, and keep in touch with the O30X community.
